Quick mixology tips

  • The base of this drink includes fresh hulled strawberries, tequila, triple sec and lime juice. However, I like to add two surprise ingredients to intensify the flavor… Fresh mint leaves and chopped strawberry jam.
  • The addition of strawberry jam sweetens the fresh strawberry cocktail recipe and provides a double explosion of strawberry flavor, really making fresh strawberries shine.
  • By adding the mint leaves, give the strawberry essence an unexpected touch of freshness and contrast.
  • Then, of course, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice deliver that traditional margarita appeal we all know and love. Add a salty edge and you have a fabulous cocktail to share with your friends!

Daiquiri versus margarita

How to make a strawberry Marguerite Cocktail

  1. Start with a large blender. Add the fresh strawberries, triple sec, tequila, strawberry jam, lime juice, mint leaves and ice. Make sure the top is tight.
  2. Mix all the ingredients until the contents are smooth.
  3. It’s time to serve! You can also garnish this drink …
    • Salt the edge by taking a small bowl or a plate and pour a little salt in it. If you make margaritas all the time, there’s even a product made specifically for margarita salt – go check it out! Wet the rim of the glass in extra strawberry jam, then dip the rim in the salt to make it stick.
    • Pour in the frozen margarita mixture.
    • Cut a slit in a lime wedge and add a strawberry on top of the glass along the edge.
  4. Enjoy your frozen margarita!

Frequently Asked Questions:

How much alcohol is in this drink?

As a general rule, frozen margaritas contain a little more alcohol because of the mixed ice. It’s about 10 percent alcohol because ice will dilute it as it melts.

What is the difference between a strawberry daiquiri and a strawberry marg?

Both of these drinks can be served over ice or mixed with ice. Although for me they are better “frozen” mixed with ice. The main difference between these two cocktails is that daiquiris are usually made with rum while margaritas are usually made with tequila, and sometimes even with beer. So the difference is the type of alcohol, not so much the way it is served or made.

What type of tequila should I use to prevent a hangover?

There isn’t really a scientific answer to this question. Yet rumor has it that the type of tequila that’s least likely to give you hangovers is 100 percent pure agave tequila. AKA white tequila.

Of course, you can still have a hangover with tequila blanco depending on how much you drink and how your body breaks down alcohol, especially when sugar is added to the mix. So know your limits and drink responsibly!
